“Halo-Bama” was inspired by the idea that the Obama campaign is truly an embodiment of Barack Obama the man.  The halo historically represents enlightenment.  In this piece the campaign is the man, and the man is the campaign... and we all are part of the campaign.  It’s one of the most exiting times I’ve lived through.” 

“The Hopeful Hearts Club is a painting that reflects the essence of hope that the campaign has inspired in millions of Americans over the past 2 years.  The 1967 Beatles Sgt. Pepper album manifested during a time of social, economic, and worldwide change.  I feel that we are in another moment where the choices we make are having a profound effect on our lives, and the world at large. 


As with the original Sgt. Pepper album, I have taken careful consideration of individual placement, individuals accomplishments, and their relationship to the Obama campaign and this time of change. ”

Michael was invited to participate in a National Day of Service at Calvin Coolidge High School in DC where he had the wonderful opportunity to meet President Obama, First Lady Michelle, and VP Biden.  Quilts, cards, and other well wishes were created through the artistry of the people and then sent overseas to troops abroad.
